The Meaning of Our Name: RevolutionRevolution Community Church started as a small group of Christ followers that began pursuing what the scriptures had to say about the Church of Jesus Christ and how it might look when lived out in 21st Century America. We started with a verse of conviction, Psalm 11:3; When the foundations are being destroyed what can the righteous do? We progressed with a verse of clarity Luke 6:48; It's like a person that builds a house on a strong foundation laid upon the underlying rock (Christ). When the floodwaters rise and break against the house, it stands firm because it is well built.. We know that the hope for America and this world is the church built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. The name Revolution came as we looked up the definition of terms that represented change. Revolution means a sudden, complete, or marked change in something, and we thought, what a better description of what type of church is needed in our community. From the very foundation of our church, to the foundational word of RCC, we are all about doing, and being, something different as a church. We understand that church was never meant to be an institution, an organization, and especially not a business. Church is a group of Christ followers that are continuing to make steps of spiritual maturity through relationship with Christ and relationship with others. Revolution Community Church is the 43rd Christian church in Logansport and the 71st in the county, but we aren't concerned about being another church in north-central Indiana. We hope and pray that God continues to make us a different church to help meet the needs of a hurting world. There are so many great churches in our area, but we want to be different.WHY ARE WE DIFFERENT..._______________________________________________Our Word: RelationalOur church's vision is for people to become Disciples making Disciples, who love Christ and love others. Christ said that the whole law hung on those 2 things; loving Jesus and loving other people. We also see in scripture that loving God and loving others are inseparable. Matthew 5:14 tells us that unless we forgive other people we wont be forgiven, which is the ultimate expression of love from God. Luke 6:27-36 gives us so many ways of showing our love to God by showing our love to others. It also gives us some insight into the things we should abstain from doing in order to express our love for God and others, like judging and condemning. So what does all of this have to do with our word? Well, just as there are many churches that might say their word(s) is evangelism (focused on conversion), Bible knowledge (focused on education), or worship (focused on church gatherings), we say that our word is relational. Nothing against any of these churches, this is just who we are. We are focused on moving people into deeper relationships with God and others simultaneously. We want people to grow in their intimacy with God, community with insiders, and influence with outsiders. We also know that people need to belong, before they believe. We wholeheartedly believe that genuine spiritual life change happens best through the avenue of relationships.
